‼️ FLU VACCINE - 50-64 YEARS ‼️

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, please contact us to make an appointment.

FLU CAMPAIGN 2020/21

Following on from the government’s announcement to extend the flu vaccination programme, we would like to clarify a few things.

We are expecting our delivery of ADULT vaccines mid-September. We have arranged flu clinics for weekends in September and October, as well as holding additional clinics in our usual opening hours.

Two thirds of our Practice population are now eligible for a vaccine, but as per the government guidance, we have to prioritise the most clinically vulnerable.

In order to reinforce social distancing, our weekend clinics are being held at Metheringham Village Hall rather than at the Practice. The hall is a much larger space which will allow us to host more clinicians but ensure social distancing can be maintained. There is also the ability to create a “throughput” system so patients can enter the building at one end, be vaccinated and then leave through an exit at the other end. Appointments will be spaced further apart to avoid large crowds of people gathering. Staff will have adequate supplies of PPE, hand gel and cleaning materials to ensure infection control is maintained.

Whether you attend the village hall or the practice, please attend ON TIME for your appointment. If people arrive too early there is a higher risk of a large group waiting which we want to avoid.

For the patients aged between 50 and 64 who are now eligible, we are waiting on the government to confirm when we can start vaccinating you and when extra stock will be delivered.  Currently we have to priorities the most clinically vulnerable so thank you for your patience.  Please do not contact us to book an appointment if you would not normally receive a flu jab.

If you have been shielding, or you would normally receive a flu jab we are starting to book clinics in now gradually. We would advise you to make contact with us to arrange an appointment soon.

PATIENT CAR PARK

Please could all patient who use the car park do so considerately.  We are very lucky to be able to provide on site parking, however spaces are limited.  The entrance to the car park is also an access road to residential properties and access is also required for emergency vehicles.  Please do no block the access road or entrance to the surgery in case of an emergency.

The car park to the rear of the surgery is designated for staff vehicles only.  Parking in this area could lead to your vehicle being blocked in by staff members arriving for work.  If this does happen you may have to wait for the clinical staff member to finish seeing to a patient before they can move their vehicle.

Thank you for your co-operation.

DID NOT ATTEND APPOINTMENT POLICY

Due to an increase in the number of wasted appointments through patients failing to attend without informing the surgery, it has become necessary to implement the following policy:

If you repeatedly fail to attend appointments you may be removed from this practice list and be required to find an alternative doctor.

If you cannot attend your appointments for any reason please let us know as soon as possible, giving at least 24 hours notice.  We can then offer the appointment to someone else.
