Specialist Practice Nurse
I completed my nurse training at Sir Gordon Roberts's school of Nursing in Northampton and qualified as an RGN in 1995, following which I worked in General Surgery at Kettering General Hospital. In 1997 I moved to Germany and worked for the British Army in general practice, obtaining a diploma in Asthma management in 1998.
After moving back to the UK I continued working in General Practice in both military and civilian medical centres, during which time I further trained to obtain diplomas, in Diabetic management (2000) Coronary Care and Heart disease (2004) and COPD management (2010).
Additionally, in 2009 I completed an honours degree in health studies with a Specialist Award in General Practice at Bangor University.
In 2013 I became a Non-Medical prescriber.
My current role involves managing patients with Diabetes. Also, I manage patients who have had a cardiac event in the past, along with supporting colleagues in managing COPD/CKD. I also see patients with minor illness along with some treatment room duties including cervical cytology, wounds and Spirometry testing (ARTP qualification 2018).
